About the project

**In May 2020, Williams decided not to refile for critical permits in New York State or New Jersey after the Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Project was denied critical permits from both state regulators. We are incredibly disappointed in this decision but are grateful to our members and advocates for their support. Below is a brief description of the project.**

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released the final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for NESE on Jan 25, 2019, finding the project will have "minimal" potential impact on the environment.

Northeast Supply Enhancement is a critical expansion of the Transco natural gas pipeline system in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Construction of this nearly $1 billion project is expected to support over 3,000 jobs, many of these going to Local 798 members. Once complete, Northeast Supply Enhancement will provide customers access to enough natural gas to serve the daily needs of nearly 2.3 million homes.
